The original Steam release was met with backlash because of the game's unfinished state and technical issues, leading Cawthon to temporarily remove it from the platform in order to address these issues. The game was released for Microsoft Windows via Steam on January 21, 2016, and for Android on January 12, 2017. It is the first official spin-off to the Five Nights at Freddy's series and the fifth game overall.
